In the Lord I take refuge; how can you say to me, “Flee like a bird to the mountains,


Fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt; they do abominable deeds; there is no one who does good.


who do not lend money at interest and do not take a bribe against the innocent. Those who do these things shall never be moved.


As for me, I said in my prosperity, “I shall never be moved.”


Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.


You said, “I shall be mistress forever,” so that you did not lay these things to heart or remember their end.


“Come,” they say, “let us get wine; let us fill ourselves with strong drink. And tomorrow will be like today, great beyond measure.”


Like thorns they are entangled; like drunkards they are drunk; they are consumed like dry straw.


But if that wicked slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’


When they say, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them, as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and there will be no escape!


As she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, so give her a like measure of torment and grief. Since in her heart she says, ‘I rule as a queen; I am no widow, and I will never see grief,’
