He was driven from human society, and his mind was made like that of an animal. Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “He has blasphemed! Why do we still need witnesses? You have now heard his blasphemy.


They bound him, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate the governor.


And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.


Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard.”


When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour and the power of darkness!”


First they took him to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.


So Judas brought a detachment of soldiers together with police from the chief priests and the Pharisees, and they came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.


Pilate therefore said to him, “Do you refuse to speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you and power to crucify you?”


John answered, “No one can receive anything except what has been given from heaven.


Then they tried to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him because his hour had not yet come.


Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would not have sin. But now that you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.


this man, handed over to you according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of those outside the law.


The God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, the God of our ancestors, has glorified his servant Jesus, whom you handed over and rejected in the presence of Pilate, though he had decided to release him.


to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place.


For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever. Amen.


Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those authorities that exist have been instituted by God.


Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.


Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it commits sin.
