“Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.


But when King Nebuchadrezzar of Babylon came up against the land, we said, ‘Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans and the army of the Arameans.’ That is why we are living in Jerusalem.”


Declare this in the house of Jacob; proclaim it in Judah:


Flee for safety, O children of Benjamin, from the midst of Jerusalem! Blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and raise a signal on Beth-haccherem, for evil looms out of the north and great destruction.


Why do we sit still? Gather together; let us go into the fortified cities and perish there, for the Lord our God has doomed us to perish and has given us poisoned water to drink because we have sinned against the Lord.


Who is wise enough to understand this? To whom has the mouth of the Lord spoken, so that they may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?


They have blown the horn and made everything ready, but no one goes to battle, for my wrath is upon all their multitude.


Set the trumpet to your lips! One like a vulture is over the house of the Lord, because they have broken my covenant and transgressed my law.


Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming, it is near—


Is a trumpet blown in a city, and the people are not afraid? Does disaster befall a city unless the Lord has done it?


The lion has roared; who will not fear? The Lord God has spoken; who can but prophesy?


“Make two silver trumpets; you shall make them of hammered work, and you shall use them for summoning the congregation and for breaking camp.


When both are blown, the whole congregation shall assemble before you at the entrance of the tent of meeting.


When Joshua and the Israelites had finished inflicting a very great blow on them, until they were wiped out, and when the survivors had entered into the fortified towns,
