So Ebed-melech left the king’s house and spoke to the king,


They hate the one who reproves in the gate, and they abhor the one who speaks the truth.


The whole land shall be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem shall remain aloft on its site from the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the former gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king’s winepresses.


So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”


then his father and his mother shall take hold of him and bring him out to the elders of his town at the gate of that place.


The slayer shall flee to one of these cities and shall stand at the entrance of the gate of the city and explain the case to the elders of that city; then the fugitive shall be taken into the city and given a place and shall remain with them.
