Therefore, thus says the Lord: You have not obeyed me by granting a release to your neighbors and friends; I am going to grant a release to you, says the Lord—a release to the sword, to pestilence, and to famine. I will make you a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


I will scatter them among nations that neither they nor their ancestors have known, and I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.


Jerusalem sinned grievously, so she has become a filthy thing; all who honored her despise her, for they have seen her nakedness; she herself groans and turns her face away.


Yet you say, “Why should not the son suffer for the iniquity of the father?” When the son has done what is lawful and right and has been careful to observe all my statutes, he shall surely live.


For thus says the Lord God: Bring up an assembly against them, and make them an object of terror and of plunder.


And you I will scatter among the nations, and I will unsheathe the sword against you; your land shall be a desolation and your cities a waste.


“The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies; you shall go out against them one way and flee before them seven ways. You shall become an object of horror to all the kingdoms of the earth.


The Lord will scatter you among all peoples, from one end of the earth to the other, and there you shall serve other gods, of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known.
