Isaiah 61:3 - New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition 2021

3 to provide for those who mourn in Zion— to give them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a faint spirit. They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display his glory.

Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them and give them gladness for sorrow.


I will provide for them a splendid vegetation so that they shall no more be consumed with hunger in the land and no longer suffer the insults of the nations.


As I came back, I saw on the bank of the river a great many trees on the one side and on the other.


And he said, “Let them put a clean turban on his head.” So they put a clean turban on his head and clothed him with apparel, and the angel of the Lord was standing by.


He answered, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.


In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.


But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly, bring out a robe—the best one—and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.


My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.


Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.


For we are God’s coworkers, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.


For you were bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body.


having produced the harvest of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for the glory and praise of God.


when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be marveled at on that day among all who have believed, because our testimony to you was believed.


You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.”


But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.


If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory, which is the Spirit of God, is resting on you.
