The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you among all animals and among all wild creatures; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life.


And now you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

“Cursed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock.


Now, therefore, you are cursed, and some of you shall always be slaves, woodcutters and drawers of water for the house of my God.”


But on that day Joshua made them woodcutters and drawers of water for the congregation and for the altar of the Lord, to continue to this day, in the place that he should choose.
