Now these are the descendants of Terah. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran was the father of Lot.


Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot son of Haran and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.


Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,


and the land could not support both of them living together because their possessions were so great that they could not live together.


When Abram heard that his nephew had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, three hundred eighteen of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.


Then the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, but take the goods for yourself.”


Jacob left Beer-sheba and went toward Haran.


Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his cattle, all his livestock, and all the property he had acquired in the land of Canaan, and he moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob.


but if a priest acquires anyone by purchase, the person may eat of them, and those who are born in his house may eat of his food.


Then he left the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After his father died, God had him move from there to this country in which you are now living.
