Now these are the descendants of Terah. Terah was the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran was the father of Lot.


Terah took his son Abram and his grandson Lot son of Haran and his daughter-in-law Sarai, his son Abram’s wife, and they went out together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.


Now Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,


Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael.


So, after Abram had lived ten years in the land of Canaan, Sarai, Abram’s wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her slave, and gave her to her husband Abram as a wife.


This is the length of Abraham’s life, one hundred seventy-five years.


Jacob left Beer-sheba and went toward Haran.


Then he left the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After his father died, God had him move from there to this country in which you are now living.


By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to set out for a place that he was to receive as an inheritance, and he set out, not knowing where he was going.


And thus Abraham, having patiently endured, obtained the promise.
