You deliver a humble people, but your eyes are upon the haughty to bring them down.


But Jehoahaz entreated the Lord, and the Lord heeded him, for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Aram oppressed them.


“Turn back and say to Hezekiah prince of my people: Thus says the Lord, the God of your ancestor David: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; indeed, I will heal you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of the Lord.


“And you saw the distress of our ancestors in Egypt and heard their cry at the Red Sea.


Nevertheless, he regarded their distress when he heard their cry.


The promises of the Lord are promises that are pure, silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.


When my spirit is faint, you know my way. In the path where I walk, they have hidden a trap for me.

So the taskmasters and the supervisors of the people went out and said to the people, “Thus says Pharaoh: I will not give you straw.


That same day Pharaoh commanded the taskmasters of the people, as well as their supervisors,


in all their distress. It was no messenger or angel but his presence that saved them; in his love and pity it was he who redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old.


and when we cried to the Lord, he heard our voice and sent an angel and brought us out of Egypt, and here we are in Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory.


I have surely seen the mistreatment of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their groaning, and I have come down to rescue them. Come now, I will send you to Egypt.’


For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who in every respect has been tested as we are, yet without sin.


“Tomorrow about this time I will send to you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be ruler over my people Israel. He shall save my people from the hand of the Philistines, for I have seen the suffering of my people, because their outcry has come to me.”
