and Saul threw the spear, for he thought, “I will pin David to the wall.” But David eluded him twice.


Saul spoke with his son Jonathan and with all his servants about killing David. But Saul’s son Jonathan took great delight in David.


Then Saul sent the messengers to see David for themselves. He said, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”


David fled from Naioth in Ramah. He came before Jonathan and said, “What have I done? What is my guilt? And what is my sin against your father that he is trying to take my life?”


David was in the wilderness of Ziph at Horesh when he learned that Saul had come out to seek his life.


The men of David said to him, “Here is the day of which the Lord said to you, ‘I will give your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it seems good to you.’ ” Then David went and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul’s cloak.


If anyone should rise up to pursue you and to seek your life, the life of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of the living under the care of the Lord your God, but the lives of your enemies he shall sling out as from the hollow of a sling.
