20 If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do good and suffer for it, this is a commendable thing before God.

Then they spat in his face and struck him, and some slapped him,


And if you greet only your brothers and sisters, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the gentiles do the same?


Some began to spit on him, to blindfold him, and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” The guards also took him and beat him.


“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.


To the present hour we are hungry and thirsty, we are naked and beaten and homeless,


It is good to be made much of for a good purpose at all times and not only when I am present with you.


Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord.


I have been paid in full and have more than enough; I am fully satisfied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent, a fragrant offering, a sacrifice acceptable and pleasing to God.


For it is a commendable thing if, being aware of God, a person endures pain while suffering unjustly.


But even if you do suffer for doing what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear what they fear, and do not be intimidated,


For it is better to suffer for doing good, if suffering should be God’s will, than to suffer for doing evil.
