But he said, “My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he alone is left. If harm should come to him on the journey that you are to make, you would bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”


For your own lifeblood I will surely require a reckoning: from every animal I will require it and from human beings, each one for the blood of another, I will require a reckoning for human life.

I now do according to your word. Indeed, I give you a wise and discerning mind; no one like you has been before you, and no one like you shall arise after you.


Therefore, I will gather you to your ancestors, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; your eyes shall not see all the disaster that I will bring on this place.’ ” They took the message back to the king.


Mark the blameless and behold the upright, for there is posterity for the peaceable.


A wise king winnows the wicked and drives the wheel over them.


If someone is burdened with the blood of another, let that killer be a fugitive until death; let no one offer assistance.


Because sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the human heart is fully set to do evil.


“There is no peace,” says the Lord, “for the wicked.”


Those who walk uprightly enter into peace and rest on their couches.

You shall not pollute the land in which you live, for blood pollutes the land, and no expiation can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, except by the blood of the one who shed it.
