In the time of King Herod, after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, magi from the east came to Jerusalem,


And great crowds followed him from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.


And the whole Judean region and all the people of Jerusalem were going out to him and were baptized by him in the River Jordan, confessing their sins.

John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim because water was abundant there, and people kept coming and were being baptized.


He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
