Thus says the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers, “Kings shall see and stand up; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”
The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”
Then he asked, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”
Now the chief priests and the whole council were looking for testimony against Jesus to put him to death, but they found none.
The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When he comes, he will proclaim all things to us.”
Even though they found no cause for a sentence of death, they asked Pilate to have him killed.
Let it be known to you therefore, brothers and sisters, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you;
