As he walked by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea—for they were fishers.
As he went from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets, and he called them.
As he went a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John, who were in their boat mending the nets.
As soon as they left the synagogue, they entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
He took with him Peter and James and John and began to be distressed and agitated.
He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.
Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain apart, by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,
and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching people.”
But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’s knees, saying, “Go away from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man!”
And when day came, he called his disciples and chose twelve of them, whom he also named apostles:
and Matthew, and Thomas, and James son of Alphaeus, and Simon, who was called the Zealot,
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.”
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied.”
When he looked up and saw a large crowd coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread for these people to eat?”
When they had entered the city, they went to the room upstairs where they were staying: Peter, and John, and James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.
