Next he put the wood in order, cut the bull in pieces, and laid it on the wood. He said, “Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.”


So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; there he bowed himself down upon the earth and put his face between his knees.


So Moses set out with his assistant Joshua, and Moses went up onto the mountain of God.


Your eyes will see the king in his beauty; they will behold a land that stretches far away.


For he grew up before him like a young plant and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.


Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns.


He took with him Peter and James and John and began to be distressed and agitated.


After this he appeared in another form to two of them, as they were walking into the country.


He allowed no one to follow him except Peter, James, and John, the brother of James.


Now during those days he went out to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.


And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth.


Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.


This is the third time I am coming to you. “Any charge must be sustained by the evidence of two or three witnesses.”


He will transform the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of his glory, by the power that also enables him to make all things subject to himself.


Then I saw a great white throne and the one who sat on it; the earth and the heaven fled from his presence, and no place was found for them.
