Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked, says the Lord God, and not rather that they should turn from their ways and live?


For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, says the Lord God. Turn, then, and live.


Say to them: As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked but that the wicked turn from their ways and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways, for why will you die, O house of Israel?


“Everyone, therefore, who acknowledges me before others, I also will acknowledge before my Father in heaven,


“Take care that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I tell you, in heaven their angels continually see the face of my Father in heaven.


So it is not the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.


“And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God,


but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God.


No, I tell you, but unless you repent you will all perish just as they did.”


Then Jesus said, “There was a man who had two sons.


Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.


And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.’


Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven; hence she has shown great love. But the one to whom little is forgiven loves little.”


When they heard this, they were silenced. And they praised God, saying, “Then God has given even to the gentiles the repentance that leads to life.”


But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors, brought them out, and said,


For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.


Perhaps this is the reason he was separated from you for a while, so that you might have him back for the long term,


Are not all angels spirits in the divine service, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
