Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.

Woe to those who hide a plan too deep for the Lord, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”


“Alas for you who get evil gain for your house, setting your nest on high to be safe from the reach of harm!”


And he said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”


Nothing is covered up that will not be uncovered and nothing secret that will not become known.


But sexual immorality and impurity of any kind or greed must not even be mentioned among you, as is proper among saints.


Be sure of this, that no sexually immoral or impure person or one who is greedy (that is, an idolater) has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.


The images of their gods you shall burn with fire. Do not covet the silver or the gold that is on them and take it for yourself, because you could be ensnared by it, for it is abhorrent to the Lord your God.


Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).


Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”


then, when desire has conceived, it engenders sin, and sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death.


And Achan answered Joshua, “It is true; I am the one who sinned against the Lord God of Israel. This is what I did:


So Joshua sent messengers, and they ran to the tent, and there it was, hidden in his tent with the silver underneath.
