The wisdom of Solomon: When wisdom comes to a son, joy comes to a father. When a son turns from wisdom, a mother grieves.

When a son learns wisdom, a father’s heart is glad. But the man who shames his mother is a foolish son.

To love pleasure for pleasure’s sake will introduce you to poverty. Indulging in a life of luxury will never make you wealthy.

In wisdom’s house you’ll find delightful treasures and the oil of the Holy Spirit. But the stupid squander what they’ve been given.

My beloved child, when your heart is full of wisdom, my heart is full of gladness.

My son, when you walk in wisdom, my heart is filled with gladness, for the way you live is proof that I’ve not taught you in vain.

Work hard and you’ll have all you desire, but chase a fantasy and you could end up with nothing.

To be obedient to what you’ve been taught proves you’re an honorable child, but to socialize with the lawless brings shame to your parents.

Prostitutes reduce a man to poverty, and the adulteress steals your soul— she may even cost you your life!

Shortly afterward, the younger son packed up all his belongings and traveled off to see the world. He journeyed to a far-off land where he soon wasted all he was given in a binge of extravagant and reckless living.

Look at him! He comes back after wasting your wealth on prostitutes and reckless living, and here you are throwing a great feast to celebrate—for him!’
