Dogs will eat those belonging to Jeroboam who die in the city, and the birds will feed on those who die in the country. The Lord has spoken!’

This was the sin of the house of Jeroboam that led to its downfall and to its destruction from the face of the earth.

As soon as he began to reign, he killed Jeroboam’s whole family. He did not leave Jeroboam anyone that breathed, but destroyed them all, according to the word of the Lord given through his servant Ahijah the Shilonite.

So I am about to wipe out Baasha and his house, and I will make your house like that of Jeroboam son of Nebat.

Dogs will eat those belonging to Baasha who die in the city, and birds will feed on those who die in the country.”

Say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: Have you not murdered a man and seized his property?’ Then say to him, ‘This is what the Lord says: In the place where dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, dogs will lick up your blood—yes, yours!’ ”

I will make the house of Ahab like the house of Jeroboam son of Nebat and like the house of Baasha son of Ahijah.

And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

“And they will go out and look on the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; the worms that eat them will not die, the fire that burns them will not be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind.”

“I will send four kinds of destroyers against them,” declares the Lord, “the sword to kill and the dogs to drag away and the birds and the wild animals to devour and destroy.

I will deliver into the hands of their enemies who want to kill them. Their dead bodies will become food for the birds and the wild animals.

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?
