They open their mouths against me, lions that rend and roar.

They gape at me with their mouths; They strike me on the cheek with insults; they are all enlisted against me.

For it is God who has made my heart faint, the Almighty who has terrified me.

And now my life ebbs away from me, days of affliction have taken hold of me.

Dogs surround me; a pack of evildoers closes in on me. They have pierced my hands and my feet

Be gracious to me, Lord, for I am in distress; affliction is wearing down my eyes, my throat and my insides.

They open wide their mouths against me. They say, “Aha! Good! Our eyes have seen it!”

May God arise; may his enemies be scattered; may those who hate him flee before him.

They have opened their mouths against us, all our enemies;

his face became pale; his thoughts terrified him, his hip joints shook, and his knees knocked.

“Plunder the silver, plunder the gold!” There is no end to the treasure, to wealth in every precious thing!

Then he said to them, “My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me.”

He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.]

“I am troubled now. Yet what should I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But it was for this purpose that I came to this hour.

who killed some thirty-six of them. They pursued them from the city gate to the Shebarim, and defeated them on the descent, so that the confidence of the people melted away like water.
