for untilthe Lawsinwas in the world,but sinis not imputedwhen there is nolaw.
Now the menof Sodomwere wickedexceedinglyand sinnersagainst the LORD.
And the LORDsaid,"The outcryof Sodomand Gomorrahis indeedgreat,and their sinis exceedinglygrave.
"Come,let us make our fatherdrinkwine,and let us liewith him that we may preserveour familythroughour father."
Thus boththe daughtersof Lotwere with childby their father.
Beforethey laydown,the menof the city,the menof Sodom,surroundedthe house,bothyoungand old,allthe peoplefrom every quarter;
But whathe didwas displeasingin the sightof the LORD;so He tookhis lifealso.
But Er,Judah'sfirstborn,was evilin the sightof the LORD,so the LORDtookhis life.
Now the earthwas corruptin the sightof God,and the earthwas filledwith violence.
The LORDsmelledthe soothingaroma;and the LORDsaidto Himself,"I will neveragaincursethe groundon accountof man,for the intentof man'sheartis evilfrom his youth;and I will neveragaindestroyeverylivingthing,as I have done.
becauseby the worksof the Lawnofleshwill be justifiedin His sight;for throughthe Law[comes] the knowledgeof sin.
for the Lawbrings aboutwrath,but wherethere is nolaw,there also is noviolation.
The stingof deathis sin,and the powerof sinis the law;
We knowthat we have passedout of deathinto life,becausewe lovethe brethren.He who does not loveabidesin death.
Everyonewho practicessinalsopracticeslawlessness;and sinis lawlessness.
