The one who spokewith me hada goldmeasuring rodto measurethe city,and its gatesand its wall.
So He broughtme there;and behold,there was a manwhose appearancewas like the appearanceof bronze,with a lineof flaxand a measuringrodin his hand;and he was standingin the gateway.
Then I liftedup my eyesand looked,and behold,[there was] a manwith a measuringlinein his hand.
So I said,"Whereare you going?"And he saidto me, "To measureJerusalem,to seehowwideit is and howlongit is."
It hada greatand highwall,with twelvegates,and at the gatestwelveangels;and names[were] writtenon them, whichare [the names] of the twelvetribesof the sonsof Israel.
The cityis laidout as a square,and its lengthis as greatas the width;and he measuredthe citywith the rod,fifteen hundred miles;its lengthand widthand heightare equal.
And the twelvegateswere twelvepearls;eachoneof the gateswas a singlepearl.And the streetof the citywas puregold,liketransparentglass.
In the daytime(for there will be nonightthere)its gateswill neverbe closed;
