Now Jabezcalledon the Godof Israel,saying,"Ohthat You would blessme indeedand enlargemy border,and that Your handmight be with me, and that You would keep[me] from harmthat [it] may not painme!" And Godgrantedhim whathe requested.
O LORD,I callupon You; hastento me! Giveearto my voicewhen I callto You!
Hearthe voiceof my supplicationswhen I cryto You for help,When I liftup my handstowardYour holysanctuary.
To You, O LORD,I called,And to the LordI madesupplication:
How blessedis he whose transgressionis forgiven,Whose sinis covered!
Saveme, O God,by Your name,And vindicateme by Your power.
Be graciousto me, O God,be graciousto me, For my soultakesrefugein You; And in the shadowof Your wingsI will takerefugeUntildestructionpassesby.
([men] of whomthe worldwas not worthy),wanderingin desertsand mountainsand cavesand holesin the ground.
He cameto the sheepfoldson the way,wherethere[was] a cave;and Saulwentin to relievehimself. Now Davidand his menwere sittingin the innerrecessesof the cave.
The menof Davidsaidto him, "Behold,[this is] the dayof whichthe LORDsaidto you, 'Behold;I am about to giveyour enemyinto your hand,and you shall doto him as it seemsgoodto you.'" Then Davidaroseand cutoffthe edgeof Saul'srobesecretly.
