The LORDspoketo Manassehand his people,but they paidnoattention.
but they [continually] mockedthe messengersof God,despisedHis wordsand scoffedat His prophets,untilthe wrathof the LORDaroseagainst His people,untiltherewas noremedy.
Becausethey had rebelledagainst the wordsof GodAnd spurnedthe counselof the MostHigh.
"But My peopledid not listento My voice,And Israeldid not obeyMe.
"They wouldnot acceptmy counsel,They spurnedallmy reproof.
Whoever lovesdisciplinelovesknowledge,But he who hatesreproofis stupid.
Grievouspunishmentis for him who forsakesthe way;He who hatesreproofwill die.
And you say,"HowI have hatedinstruction!And my heartspurnedreproof!
"Counselis mine and soundwisdom;I am understanding,poweris mine.
"Thereforethussaysthe LORD,the Godof hosts,the Godof Israel,'Behold,I am bringingon Judahand on allthe inhabitantsof Jerusalemallthe disasterthat I have pronouncedagainstthem; becauseI spoketo them but they did not listen,and I have calledthem but they did not answer.'"
But the Phariseesand the lawyersrejectedGod'spurposefor themselves,not having been baptizedby John.
"Then you returnedand weptbeforethe LORD;but the LORDdid not listento your voicenorgiveearto you.
"Then you will cryout in that daybecauseof your kingwhomyou have chosenfor yourselves, but the LORDwill not answeryou in that day."
