circumcisedthe eighth day,of the nationof Israel,of the tribeof Benjamin,a Hebrewof Hebrews;as to the Law,a Pharisee;
Then a fugitivecameand toldAbramthe Hebrew.Now he was livingby the oaksof Mamrethe Amorite,brotherof Eshcoland brotherof Aner,and thesewere allieswith Abram.
"And everymaleamong you who is eightdaysoldshall be circumcisedthroughout your generations,a [servant] whois bornin the houseor whois boughtwith moneyfrom anyforeigner,whois not of your descendants.
"For I was in factkidnappedfrom the landof the Hebrews,and evenhereI have donenothingthat they should have putme into the dungeon."
"Now a Hebrewyouth[was] with us there,a servantof the captainof the bodyguard,and we related[them] to him, and he interpretedour dreamsfor us. To eachonehe interpretedaccording to his [own] dream.
He saidto them, "I am a Hebrew,and I fearthe LORDGodof heavenwhomadethe seaand the dryland."
And it happenedthat on the eighthdaythey cameto circumcisethe child,and they were going to callhim Zacharias,afterhis father.
And wheneightdayshad passed,before His circumcision,His namewas [then] calledJesus,the name givenby the angelbeforeHe was conceivedin the womb.
"But newwinemust be putinto freshwineskins.
"I ama Jew,bornin Tarsusof Cilicia,but broughtup in thiscity,educatedunderGamaliel,strictlyaccordingto the lawof our fathers,beingzealousfor Godjustas you allare today.
But perceivingthat onegroupwere Sadduceesand the otherPharisees,Paul[began] cryingout in the Council,"Brethren,I ama Pharisee,a sonof Pharisees;I am on trialfor the hopeand resurrectionof the dead!"
Nowat thistimewhile the discipleswere increasing[in number], a complaintaroseon the part of the Hellenistic[Jews] againstthe [native] Hebrews,becausetheir widowswere being overlookedin the dailyserving[of food].
I saythen,Godhas not rejectedHis people,has He? May it neverbe! For I tooaman Israelite,a descendantof Abraham,of the tribeof Benjamin.
Are they Hebrews?Soam I. Are they Israelites?Soam I. Are they descendantsof Abraham?Soam I.
When the Philistinesheardthe noiseof the shout,they said,"What[does] the noiseof thisgreatshoutin the campof the Hebrews[mean]?" Then they understoodthat the arkof the LORDhad comeinto the camp.
