But grumbledin their tents;They did not listento the voiceof the LORD.
Through insolencecomesnothingbut strife,But wisdomis with those who receivecounsel.
"Howlong[shall I bear] with thisevilcongregationwhoare grumblingagainstMe? I have heardthe complaintsof the sonsof Israel,whichthey are makingagainstMe.
"When they receivedit, they grumbledat the landowner,
"For thisperfumemighthave been soldfor overthree hundreddenarii,and [the money] givento the poor."And they were scoldingher.
When they came[back] to the disciples,they sawa largecrowdaroundthem, and [some] scribesarguingwith them.
The Phariseesand their scribes[began] grumblingat His disciples,saying,"Whydo you eatand drinkwith the tax collectorsand sinners?"
And when Pauland Barnabashadgreatdissensionand debatewith them, [the brethren] determinedthat Pauland Barnabasand someothersof them should goup to Jerusalemto the apostlesand eldersconcerningthisissue.
And there occurredsuch a sharp disagreementthat they separatedfrom one another,and BarnabastookMarkwith him and sailed awayto Cyprus.
After there had beenmuchdebate,Peterstoodup and saidto them, "Brethren,you knowthat in the earlydaysGodmade a choiceamongyou, that by my mouththe Gentileswould hearthe wordof the gospeland believe.
Nowat thistimewhile the discipleswere increasing[in number], a complaintaroseon the part of the Hellenistic[Jews] againstthe [native] Hebrews,becausetheir widowswere being overlookedin the dailyserving[of food].
Ifpossible,so faras it dependson you, be at peacewith allmen.
Nowacceptthe one who is weakin faith,[but] not for [the purpose of] passing judgmenton his opinions.
NowI urgeyou, brethren,keep your eyeon thosewho causedissensionsand hindrancescontraryto the teachingwhichyou learned,and turn awayfrom them.
Norgrumble,as someof them did,and were destroyedby the destroyer.
For I am afraidthat perhapswhen I comeI may findyou to be not whatI wishand may be foundby you to be not whatyou wish;that perhaps[there will be] strife,jealousy,angry tempers,disputes,slanders,gossip,arrogance,disturbances;
But ifyou biteand devouroneanother,take carethat you are not consumedby one another.
Let us not becomeboastful,challengingoneanother,envyingone another.
Do nothingfrom selfishnessorempty conceit,but with humility of mindregardone anotheras more importantthan yourselves;
and that you esteemthem very highlyin lovebecauseof their work.Live in peacewith one another.
Seethat noonerepaysanotherwith evilfor evil,but alwaysseek afterthat which is goodfor one anotherand for all people.
Pursuepeacewith all men,and the sanctificationwithoutwhichno onewill seethe Lord.
for the angerof mandoes not achievethe righteousnessof God.
But ifyou havebitterjealousyand selfish ambitionin your heart,do not be arrogantand [so] lieagainstthe truth.
Do not complain,brethren,againstone another,sothat you yourselves may not be judged;behold,the Judgeis standingrightat the door.
"HE MUST TURN AWAYFROM EVILAND DOGOOD;HE MUST SEEKPEACEAND PURSUEIT.
Be hospitableto one anotherwithoutcomplaint.
Theseare grumblers,finding fault,followingaftertheir [own] lusts;they speakarrogantly,flatteringpeoplefor the sakeof [gaining an] advantage.
