The congregationshall deliverthe manslayerfrom the handof the bloodavenger,and the congregationshall restorehim to his cityof refugeto whichhe fled;and he shall livein it untilthe deathof the highpriestwhowas anointedwith the holyoil.
"For we will surelydieand are like waterspilledon the groundwhichcannotbe gatheredup again. Yet Goddoes not takeaway life,but planswaysso that the banishedonewill not be castout from him.
"Then you shall takethe anointingoiland pourit on his headand anointhim.
The priestwho is the highestamonghis brothers,on whoseheadthe anointingoilhas been pouredand who has been consecratedto wearthe garments,shall not uncoverhis headnortearhis clothes;
ifthe anointedpriestsinsso as to bringguilton the people,then let him offerto the LORDa bullwithoutdefectas a sinofferingfor the sinhe has committed.
Then he pouredsomeof the anointingoilon Aaron'sheadand anointedhim, to consecratehim.
then the congregationshall judgebetweenthe slayerand the bloodavengeraccordingto theseordinances.
But ifthe manslayerat anytimegoesbeyondthe borderof his cityof refugeto whichhe may flee,
becausehe should have remainedin his cityof refugeuntilthe deathof the highpriest.But afterthe deathof the highpriestthe manslayershall returnto the landof his possession.
He shall dwellin that cityuntilhe standsbeforethe congregationfor judgment,untilthe deathof the one whois highpriestin thosedays.Thenthe manslayershall returnto his own cityand to his own house,to the cityfrom whichhe fled.'"
