Mosessaidto them, "Ifthe sonsof Gadand the sonsof Reuben,everyonewho is armedfor battle,will crosswith you overthe Jordanin the presenceof the LORD,and the landis subduedbeforeyou, then you shall givethem the landof Gileadfor a possession;
but we ourselveswill be armedready[to go] beforethe sonsof Israel,untilwe have broughtthem to their place,while our littleoneslivein the fortifiedcitiesbecauseof the inhabitantsof the land.
So Mosesgavecommandconcerning them to Eleazarthe priest,and to Joshuathe sonof Nun,and to the headsof the fathers'[households] of the tribesof the sonsof Israel.
but ifthey will not crossoverwith you armed,they shall havepossessionsamongyou in the landof Canaan."
Mosesthe servantof the LORDand the sonsof Israeldefeatedthem; and Mosesthe servantof the LORDgaveit to the Reubenitesand the Gaditesand the half-tribeof Manassehas a possession.
and Gilead,and the territoryof the Geshuritesand Maacathites,and allMountHermon,and allBashanas faras Salecah;
For Moseshad giventhe inheritanceof the twotribesand the half-tribebeyondthe Jordan;but he did not givean inheritanceto the Levitesamongthem.
"For the Leviteshavenoportionamongyou, becausethe priesthoodof the LORDis their inheritance.Gadand Reubenand the half-tribeof Manassehalso have receivedtheir inheritanceeastwardbeyondthe Jordan,whichMosesthe servantof the LORDgavethem."
The sonsof Reubenand the sonsof Gadand the half-tribeof Manassehreturned[home] and departedfrom the sonsof Israelat Shilohwhichis in the landof Canaan,to goto the landof Gilead,to the landof their possessionwhichthey had possessed,accordingto the commandof the LORDthroughMoses.
Afterhim, Jairthe Gileaditearoseand judgedIsraeltwenty-twoyears.
Then Saulsaidto David,"Hereis my olderdaughterMerab;I will giveher to you as a wife,onlybe a valiantmanfor me and fightthe LORD'Sbattles."For Saulthought,"My handshall not be against him, but let the handof the Philistinesbe against him."
