But Israelstretchedout his righthandand laidit on the headof Ephraim,whowas the younger,and his lefthandon Manasseh'shead,crossinghis hands,althoughManassehwas the firstborn.
Josephsawthe thirdgeneration of Ephraim'ssons;alsothe sonsof Machir,the sonof Manasseh,were bornon Joseph'sknees.
AfterwardHezronwentin to the daughterof Machirthe fatherof Gilead,whom he marriedwhen he was sixtyyearsold;and she borehim Segub.
And the headsof the fathers'[households] of the familyof the sonsof Gilead,the sonof Machir,the sonof Manasseh,of the familiesof the sonsof Joseph,camenearand spokebeforeMosesand beforethe leaders,the headsof the fathers'[households] of the sonsof Israel,

Now [this] was the lotfor the tribeof Manasseh,for he was the firstbornof Joseph.To Machirthe firstbornof Manasseh,the fatherof Gilead,were allottedGileadand Bashan,becausehe was a manof war.
