When Balaamsawthat it pleasedthe LORDto blessIsrael,he did not goas at othertimesto seekomensbut he sethis facetowardthe wilderness.
So Balaamarosein the morningand saidto Balak'sleaders,"Gobackto your land,for the LORDhas refusedto letme gowith you."
So the eldersof Moaband the eldersof Midiandepartedwith the [fees for] divinationin their hand;and they cameto Balaamand repeatedBalak'swordsto him.
And he saidto Balak,"Standherebesideyour burntofferingwhile I myselfmeet[the LORD] overthere."
"Behold,I have received[a command] to bless;When He has blessed,then I cannotrevokeit.
"For there is noomenagainst Jacob,Noris there any divinationagainst Israel;At the proper timeit shall be saidto JacobAnd to Israel,whatGodhas done!
So BalaktookBalaamto the topof Peorwhich overlooksthe wasteland.
Then Balaamsaidto Balak,"Standbesideyour burntoffering,and I will go;perhapsthe LORDwill cometo meetme, and whateverHe showsme I will tellyou." So he wentto a barehill.
Balakdidjustas Balaamhad said,and offeredup a bulland a ramon [each] altar.
"Behold,thesecausedthe sonsof Israel,through the counselof Balaam,to trespassagainst the LORDin the matterof Peor,so the plaguewas among the congregationof the LORD.
But I havea few thingsagainstyou, becauseyou havetheresome who holdthe teachingof Balaam,whokept teachingBalakto puta stumbling blockbeforethe sonsof Israel,to eatthings sacrificed to idolsand to commit [acts of] immorality.
"Now,behold,I knowthat you will surelybe king,and that the kingdomof Israelwill be establishedin your hand.
So Saularoseand wentdownto the wildernessof Ziph,having with him threethousandchosenmenof Israel,to searchfor Davidin the wildernessof Ziph.
Then Saulsaidto David,"Blessedare you, my sonDavid;you will bothaccomplishmuchand surelyprevail."So Davidwenton his way,and Saulreturnedto his place.
