Then Israelstruckhim with the edgeof the sword,and tookpossessionof his landfrom the Arnonto the Jabbok,as faras the sonsof Ammon;for the borderof the sonsof Ammon[was] Jazer.
Now he arosethat samenightand tookhis twowivesand his twomaidsand his elevenchildren,and crossedthe fordof the Jabbok.
"You also gavethem kingdomsand peoples,And allotted[them] to them as a boundary.They tookpossessionof the landof Sihonthe kingof HeshbonAnd the landof Ogthe kingof Bashan.
Sihon,kingof the Amorites,For His lovingkindnessis everlasting,
"Yet it was I who destroyedthe Amoritebeforethem, Though his height[was] like the heightof cedarsAnd he [was] strongas the oaks;I even destroyedhis fruitaboveand his rootbelow.
From therethey journeyedand campedon the othersideof the Arnon,whichis in the wildernessthat comesout of the borderof the Amorites,for the Arnonis the borderof Moab,betweenMoaband the Amorites.
afterhe had defeatedSihonthe kingof the Amorites,wholivedin Heshbon,and Ogthe kingof Bashan,wholivedin Ashtarothand Edrei.
"When you reachedthisplace,Sihonthe kingof Heshbonand Ogthe kingof Bashancameout to meetus for battle,but we defeatedthem;
"To the Reubenitesand to the GaditesI gavefrom Gileadeven as faras the valleyof Arnon,the middleof the valleyas a borderand as faras the riverJabbok,the borderof the sonsof Ammon;
"The LORDwill doto them justas He didto Sihonand Og,the kingsof the Amorites,and to their land,whenHe destroyedthem.
acrossthe Jordan,in the valleyoppositeBeth-peor,in the landof Sihonkingof the Amoriteswholivedat Heshbon,whomMosesand the sonsof Israeldefeatedwhen they cameout from Egypt.
allthe kingdomof Ogin Bashan,whoreignedin Ashtarothand in Edrei(he alone was leftof the remnantof the Rephaim);for Mosesstruckthem and dispossessedthem.
Then I broughtyou into the landof the Amoriteswho livedbeyondthe Jordan,and they foughtwith you; and I gavethem into your hand,and you tookpossessionof their landwhen I destroyedthem beforeyou.
and allthat He didto the twokingsof the Amoriteswhowere beyondthe Jordan,to Sihonkingof Heshbonand to Ogkingof Bashanwhowas at Ashtaroth.
The LORDsaidto the sonsof Israel,"[Did I] not [deliver you] from the Egyptians,the Amorites,the sonsof Ammon,and the Philistines?
The kingof the sonsof Ammonsaidto the messengersof Jephthah,"BecauseIsraeltookaway my landwhen they cameup from Egypt,from the Arnonas faras the Jabbokand the Jordan;therefore, returnthem peaceablynow."
And they said,"Whatoneis there of the tribesof Israelwhodid not comeup to the LORDat Mizpah?"And behold,noonehad cometo the campfrom Jabesh-gileadto the assembly.
