Then my Godputit into my heartto assemblethe nobles,the officialsand the peopleto be enrolledby genealogies.Then I foundthe bookof the genealogyof those who cameup firstin which I foundthe following record:
Thesesearched[among] their ancestralregistration,but they could not be located;therefore they were considered unclean[and excluded] from the priesthood.
Blessedbe the LORD,the Godof our fathers,whohas put[such a thing] as thisin the king'sheart,to adornthe houseof the LORDwhichis in Jerusalem,
Rememberme, O my God,for good,[according to] allthat I have donefor thispeople.
Remember,O my God,Tobiahand Sanballataccording to theseworksof theirs, and alsoNoadiahthe prophetessand the restof the prophetswhowere [trying] to frightenme.
Now the citywas largeand spacious,but the peoplein it were fewand the houseswere not built.

For the LORDgiveswisdom;From His mouth[come] knowledgeand understanding.
In allyour waysacknowledgeHim, And He will makeyour pathsstraight.
But by the graceof GodI amwhatI am,and His gracetowardme did not provevain;but I laboredeven morethan allof them, yetnot I, but the graceof Godwith me.
Not that we are adequatein ourselvesto consideranythingas [coming] from ourselves,but our adequacyis from God,
But thanksbe to Godwho putsthe sameearnestnesson your behalfin the heartof Titus.
For thispurpose alsoI labor,strivingaccordingto His power, which mightilyworkswithinme.
Do not be deceived,my belovedbrethren.
