Now the citywas largeand spacious,but the peoplein it were fewand the houseswere not built.
Now the leadersof the peoplelivedin Jerusalem,but the restof the peoplecastlotsto bringoneout of tento livein Jerusalem,the holycity,while nine-tenths[remained] in the [other] cities.
And the peopleblessedallthe menwho volunteeredto livein Jerusalem.
Then I saidto them, "Do not let the gatesof Jerusalembe openeduntilthe sunis hot,and whilethey are standing[guard], let them shutand boltthe doors.Also appointguardsfrom the inhabitantsof Jerusalem,eachat his post,and eachin frontof his own house."
Then my Godputit into my heartto assemblethe nobles,the officialsand the peopleto be enrolledby genealogies.Then I foundthe bookof the genealogyof those who cameup firstin which I foundthe following record:
"Those from among you will rebuildthe ancientruins;You will raiseup the age-oldfoundations;And you will be calledthe repairerof the breach,The restorerof the streetsin which to dwell.
"But seekfirstHis kingdomand His righteousness,and allthese thingswill be addedto you.
