Therefore[it will be] nightfor you-- withoutvision,And darknessfor you-- withoutdivination.The sunwill godown on the prophets,And the daywill becomedarkoverthem.
We do not seeour signs;Thereis nolongerany prophet,Noris there any amongus who knowshowlong.
For the LORDhas pouredoveryou a spiritof deepsleep,He has shutyour eyes,the prophets;And He has coveredyour heads,the seers.
We gropealong the walllike blindmen,We gropelike those who havenoeyes;We stumbleat middayas in the twilight,Among those whoare vigorous[we are] like deadmen.
Givegloryto the LORDyour God,BeforeHe bringsdarknessAnd beforeyour feetstumbleOn the duskymountains,And while you are hopingfor lightHe makesit into deepdarkness,[And] turns[it] into gloom.
"She who boreseven[sons] pinesaway;Her breathingis labored.Her sunhas setwhile it was yetday;She has beenshamedand humiliated.So I will giveover their survivorsto the swordBeforetheir enemies,"declaresthe LORD.
Then they said,"Comeand let us deviseplansagainstJeremiah.Surelythe lawis not going to be lostto the priest,norcounselto the sage,northe [divine] wordto the prophet!Comeon and let us strikeat him with [our] tongue,and let us givenoheedto anyof his words."
"So My handwill be againstthe prophetswho seefalse~visionsand utterlyingdivinations.They will havenoplacein the councilof My people,norwill they be writtendownin the registerof the houseof Israel,norwill they enterthe landof Israel,that you may knowthat I am the LordGOD.
Disasterwill comeupon disasterand rumorwill be [added] to rumor;then they will seeka visionfrom a prophet,but the lawwill be lostfrom the priestand counselfrom the elders.
"Behold,daysare coming,"declaresthe LordGOD,"When I will senda famineon the land,Not a faminefor breador a thirstfor water,But ratherfor hearingthe wordsof the LORD.
Do not speakout,' [so] they speakout. [But if] they do not speakout concerning thesethings,Reproacheswill not be turnedback.
