and the fieldis the world;and [as for] the goodseed,theseare the sonsof the kingdom;and the taresare the sonsof the evil[one];
"For out of the heartcomeevilthoughts,murders,adulteries,fornications,thefts,false witness,slanders.
"Norshall you make an oathby your head,for you cannotmakeonehairwhiteorblack.
And do not leadus into temptation,but deliverus from evil.[For Yoursis the kingdomand the powerand the gloryforever.Amen].'
"I do not askYou to takethem out of the world,but to keepthem from the evil[one].
"You are of [your] fatherthe devil,and you wantto dothe desiresof your father.He was a murdererfrom the beginning,and does not standin the truthbecausethere is notruthin him. Wheneverhe speaksa lie,he speaksfrom his own[nature], for he is a liarand the fatherof lies.
Therefore,laying asidefalsehood,SPEAKTRUTHEACH ONE[of you] WITH HIS NEIGHBOR,for we are membersof one another.
in addition to all,takingup the shieldof faithwith whichyou will be ableto extinguishallthe flamingarrowsof the evil[one].
Do not lieto one another,since you laid asidethe oldselfwith its [evil] practices,
Let your speechalwaysbe with grace,[as though] seasonedwith salt,so that you will knowhowyou shouldrespondto eachperson.
But the Lordis faithful,and He will strengthenand protectyou from the evil[one].
But aboveall,my brethren,do not swear,eitherby heavenorby earthorwith anyotheroath;but your yesis to be yes,and your no,no,sothat you may not fallunderjudgment.
I am writingto you, fathers,becauseyou knowHim who has been from the beginning.I am writingto you, young men,becauseyou have overcomethe evil one.I have writtento you, children,becauseyou knowthe Father.
not as Cain,[who] was of the eviloneand slewhis brother.And for whatreasondid he slayhim? Becausehis deedswere evil,and his brother'swere righteous.
We knowthat noonewho is bornof Godsins;but He who was bornof Godkeepshim, and the evil onedoes not touchhim.
