And Jesussaidto them, "Watchout and bewareof the leavenof the Phariseesand Sadducees."
Underthesecircumstances,after so many thousandsof peoplehad gathered togetherthat they were steppingon one another,He begansayingto His disciplesfirst[of all, ]"Bewareof the leavenof the Pharisees,whichis hypocrisy.
A littleleavenleavensthe wholelump[of dough].
And He was giving ordersto them, saying,"Watchout! Bewareof the leavenof the Phariseesand the leavenof Herod."
Thenthey understoodthat He did not sayto bewareof the leavenof bread,but of the teachingof the Phariseesand Sadducees.
Nograin offering,whichyou bringto the LORD,shall be madewith leaven,for you shall not offerup in smokeanyleavenor anyhoneyas an offeringby fireto the LORD.
ThenHe saidto them, "Beware,and be on your guardagainstevery formof greed;for not [even] whenonehas an abundancedoes his lifeconsistof his possessions."
But when he sawmanyof the Phariseesand Sadduceescomingfor baptism,he saidto them, "You broodof vipers,whowarnedyou to fleefrom the wrathto come?
The Phariseesand Sadduceescameup, and testingJesus, they askedHim to showthem a signfrom heaven.
And the disciplescameto the other side[of the sea], but they had forgottento bring[any] bread.
They began to discuss[this] amongthemselves,saying,"[He said that] becausewe did not bring[any] bread."
"Howis it that you do not understandthat I did not speakto you concerningbread?But bewareof the leavenof the Phariseesand Sadducees."
Sothe discipleswere sayingto one another,"NoonebroughtHim [anything] to eat,did he?"
