They wentout and preachedthat [men] should repent.
From that timeJesusbeganto preachand say,"Repent,for the kingdomof heavenis at hand."
solemnly testifyingto bothJewsand Greeksof repentancetowardGodand faithin our LordJesusChrist.
When they heardthis,they quieted downand glorifiedGod,saying,"Well then,Godhas grantedto the Gentilesalsothe repentance[that leads] to life."
Peter[said] to them, "Repent,and eachof you be baptizedin the nameof JesusChristfor the forgivenessof your sins;and you will receivethe giftof the HolySpirit.
"I tellyou, no,but unlessyou repent,you will alllikewiseperish.
"The menof Ninevehwill standup with thisgenerationat the judgmentand condemnit, becausethey repentedat the preachingof Jonah;and behold,something greaterthan Jonahis here.
"Thereforebearfruitin keepingwith repentance;
"Repent,for the kingdomof heavenis at hand."
"ThereforeI will judgeyou, O houseof Israel,eachaccording to his conduct,"declaresthe LordGOD."Repentand turnawayfrom allyour transgressions,so that iniquitymay not becomea stumblingblockto you.
but [kept] declaringbothto thoseof Damascusfirst,and [also] at Jerusalemand [then] throughout allthe regionof Judea,and [even] to the Gentiles,that they should repentand turnto God,performingdeedsappropriateto repentance.
"Thereforerepentand return,sothat your sinsmay be wiped away,in orderthat timesof refreshingmay comefrom the presenceof the Lord;
and that repentancefor forgivenessof sinswould be proclaimedin His nameto allthe nations,beginningfrom Jerusalem.
"In the same way,I tellyou, there is joyin the presenceof the angelsof Godoveronesinnerwho repents."
"I tellyou that in the same way,there will be [more] joyin heavenoveronesinnerwho repentsthanoverninety-ninerighteous personswhoneednorepentance.
"I tellyou, no,but unlessyou repent,you will alllikewiseperish."
and saying,"The timeis fulfilled,and the kingdomof Godis at hand;repentand believein the gospel."
ThenHe beganto denouncethe citiesin whichmostof His miracleswere done,becausethey did not repent.
"But goand learnwhatthis means:I DESIRECOMPASSION,AND NOT SACRIFICE,'for I did not cometo callthe righteous,but sinners."
Departing,they [began] going throughoutthe villages,preaching the gospeland healingeverywhere.
THE VOICEOF ONE CRYINGIN THE WILDERNESS,'MAKE READYTHE WAYOF THE LORD,MAKEHIS PATHSSTRAIGHT.'"
WhenJesushad finishedgiving instructionsto His twelvedisciples,He departedfrom thereto teachand preachin their cities.
