The soldierstook Him awayinto the palace(that is, the Praetorium),and they called togetherthe whole[Roman] cohort.
Thenthe chiefpriestsand the eldersof the peoplewere gathered togetherin the courtof the high priest,namedCaiaphas;
They dressedHim up in purple,and after twistinga crownof thorns,they putit on Him;
Thenthey ledJesusfrom Caiaphasinto the Praetorium,and it was early;and they themselvesdid not enterinto the Praetoriumsothat they would not be defiled,but might eatthe Passover.
ThereforePilateenteredagaininto the Praetorium,and summonedJesusand saidto Him, "Are You the Kingof the Jews?"
And the soldierstwistedtogether a crownof thornsand putit on His head,and puta purplerobeon Him;
and he enteredinto the Praetoriumagainand saidto Jesus,"Whereare You from?" But Jesusgavehim noanswer.
