Whenthe dayswere approachingfor His ascension,He was determinedto goto Jerusalem;
As they were goingalong and talking,behold,[there appeared] a chariotof fireand horsesof firewhich separatedthe twoof them. And Elijahwentup by a whirlwindto heaven.
So then,when the LordJesushad spokento them, He was receivedup into heavenand sat downat the right handof God.
"But I havea baptismto undergo,and howdistressedI am untilit is accomplished!
And He was passing throughfrom one cityand villageto another,teaching,and proceedingon His wayto Jerusalem.
WhileHe was on the wayto Jerusalem,He was passingbetweenSamariaand Galilee.
ThenHe tookthe twelveasideand saidto them, "Behold,we are goingup to Jerusalem,and all thingswhich are writtenthroughthe prophetsabout the Sonof Manwill be accomplished.
While they were listeningto these things,Jesus wenton to tella parable,becauseHe was nearJerusalem,and they supposedthat the kingdomof Godwas goingto appearimmediately.
After He had saidthese things,He was goingon ahead,goingup to Jerusalem.
WhileHe was blessingthem, He parted from them and was carriedup into heaven.
As they were goingalongthe road,someonesaidto Him, "I will followYou whereverYou go."
Nowbeforethe Feastof the Passover,Jesusknowingthat His hourhad comethat He would departout of thisworldto the Father,having lovedHis ownwhowere in the world,He lovedthem to the end.
"I came forthfrom the Fatherand have comeinto the world;I am leavingthe worldagainand goingto the Father."
"But nowI am goingto Him who sentMe; and noneof you asksMe, 'Whereare You going?'
"I amno longerin the world;and [yet] they themselvesare in the world,and I cometo You. HolyFather,keepthem in Your name,[the name] whichYou have givenMe, that they may be oneevenas We [are].
"[What] thenifyou seethe Sonof Manascendingto whereHe was before?
untilthe daywhen He was takenup [to heaven], after He had by the HolySpiritgiven ordersto the apostleswhomHe had chosen.
And after He had saidthese things,He was liftedup while they were lookingon, and a cloudreceivedHim out of their sight.
whichHe brought aboutin Christ,when He raisedHim from the deadand seatedHim at His right handin the heavenly[places],
I presson towardthe goalfor the prizeof the upwardcallof Godin ChristJesus.
By common confession,greatis the mysteryof godliness:He whowas revealedin the flesh,Was vindicatedin the Spirit,Seenby angels,Proclaimedamongthe nations,Believedon in the world,Takenup in glory.
fixing our eyeson Jesus,the authorand perfecterof faith,whofor the joyset beforeHim enduredthe cross,despisingthe shame,and has sat downat the right handof the throneof God.
whereJesushas enteredas a forerunnerfor us, having becomea high priestforeveraccordingto the orderof Melchizedek.
whois at the right handof God,having goneinto heaven,after angelsand authoritiesand powershad been subjectedto Him.
