The high priestAnaniascommandedthosestanding besidehim to strikehim on the mouth.

Actually,then,it is alreadya defeatfor you, that you havelawsuitswith one another.Whynot ratherbe wronged?Whynot ratherbe defrauded?
For you tolerateit ifanyoneenslavesyou, anyonedevoursyou, anyonetakesadvantage of you, anyoneexaltshimself, anyonehitsyou in the face.
For you showed sympathyto the prisonersand acceptedjoyfullythe seizureof your property,knowingthat you havefor yourselvesa betterpossessionand a lastingone.
