They saidto one another,"Were not our heartsburningwithinus whileHe was speakingto us on the road,whileHe was explainingthe Scripturesto us?"
Let my meditationbe pleasingto Him; As for me, I shall be gladin the LORD.
My heartwas hotwithinme, While I was musingthe fireburned;[Then] I spokewith my tongue:
Ironsharpensiron,So one mansharpensanother.
Oiland perfumemakethe heartglad,So a man'scounselis sweetto his friend.
The LordGODhas givenMe the tongueof disciples,That I may knowhow to sustainthe wearyonewith a word.He awakens[Me] morningby morning,He awakensMy earto listenas a disciple.
Your wordswere foundand I atethem, And Your wordsbecamefor me a joyand the delightof my heart;For I have been calledby Your name,O LORDGodof hosts.
But if I say,"I will not rememberHim Or speakanymorein His name,"Then in my heartit becomeslike a burningfireShutup in my bones;And I am wearyof holding[it] in, And I cannotendure[it].
"Is not My wordlike fire?"declaresthe LORD,"and like a hammerwhich shattersa rock?
and He did not speakto them withouta parable;but He was explainingeverythingprivatelyto His owndisciples.
ThenHe openedtheir mindsto understandthe Scriptures,
"It is the Spiritwho gives life;the fleshprofitsnothing;the wordsthat I have spokento you are spiritand are life.
When they had seta dayfor Paul, they cameto him at his lodgingin large numbers;and he was explainingto them by solemnly testifyingabout the kingdomof Godand trying to persuadethem concerningJesus,from boththe Lawof Mosesand from the Prophets,from morninguntilevening.
For the wordof Godis livingand activeand sharperthananytwo-edgedsword,and piercingas faras the divisionof souland spirit,of bothjointsand marrow,and able to judgethe thoughtsand intentionsof the heart.
