NowHerodwas verygladwhen he sawJesus;for he hadwantedto seeHim for a longtime,becausehe had been hearingaboutHim and was hopingto seesomesignperformedby Him.
And KingHerodheard[of it], for His namehad becomewell known;and [people] were saying,"Johnthe Baptisthas risenfrom the dead,and that is whythesemiraculous powersare at workin Him."
At that timeHerodthe tetrarchheardthe newsabout Jesus,
saying,"Givethisauthorityto me as well,sothat everyoneon whomI laymy handsmay receivethe HolySpirit."
And He saidto them, "No doubtyou will quotethisproverbto Me, 'Physician,healyourself!Whateverwe heardwas doneat Capernaum,doherein your hometownas well.'"
But Naamanwas furiousand wentaway and said,"Behold,I thought,'He will surelycomeout to me and standand callon the nameof the LORDhis God,and wavehis handoverthe placeand curethe leper.'
And He summonedthe crowdwith His disciples,and saidto them, "Ifanyonewishesto comeafterMe, he must denyhimself,and takeup his crossand followMe.
