NowHerodwas verygladwhen he sawJesus;for he hadwantedto seeHim for a longtime,becausehe had been hearingaboutHim and was hopingto seesomesignperformedby Him.
But Naamanwas furiousand wentaway and said,"Behold,I thought,'He will surelycomeout to me and standand callon the nameof the LORDhis God,and wavehis handoverthe placeand curethe leper.'
At that timeHerodthe tetrarchheardthe newsabout Jesus,
And KingHerodheard[of it], for His namehad becomewell known;and [people] were saying,"Johnthe Baptisthas risenfrom the dead,and that is whythesemiraculous powersare at workin Him."
And He summonedthe crowdwith His disciples,and saidto them, "Ifanyonewishesto comeafterMe, he must denyhimself,and takeup his crossand followMe.
And He saidto them, "No doubtyou will quotethisproverbto Me, 'Physician,healyourself!Whateverwe heardwas doneat Capernaum,doherein your hometownas well.'"
saying,"Givethisauthorityto me as well,sothat everyoneon whomI laymy handsmay receivethe HolySpirit."
