It happenedthat whenHe wentinto the houseof oneof the leadersof the Phariseeson [the] Sabbathto eatbread,they were watching Him closely.
The wickedspiesupon the righteousAnd seeksto killhim.
And whenhe comesto see[me], he speaksfalsehood;His heartgatherswickednessto itself; When he goesoutside,he tellsit.
They have counseledonlyto thrusthim downfrom his highposition;They delightin falsehood;They blesswith their mouth,But inwardlythey curse.Selah.
For as he thinkswithin himself,sohe is. He saysto you, "Eatand drink!"But his heartis not with you.
"How muchmore valuablethenis a manthan a sheep!So then,it is lawfulto dogoodon the Sabbath."
They were watchingHim [to see] ifHe would healhim on the Sabbath,sothat they might accuseHim.
NowwhenHe had spoken,a PhariseeaskedHim to have lunchwith him; and He wentin, and reclined[at the table].
And therein frontof Him was a mansuffering from dropsy.
Nowhaving been questionedby the Phariseesas to whenthe kingdomof Godwas coming,He answeredthem and said,"The kingdomof Godis not comingwith signs to be observed;
Sothey watchedHim, and sentspieswho pretendedto be righteous,in orderthat they might catchHim in some statement,sothat they [could] deliverHim to the ruleand the authorityof the governor.
The scribesand the Phariseeswere watching Him closely[to see] ifHe healedon the Sabbath,sothat they might find[reason] to accuseHim.
Nowthere was a manof the Pharisees,namedNicodemus,a rulerof the Jews;
But a PhariseenamedGamaliel,a teacher of the Law,respectedby allthe people,stoodup in the Counciland gave ordersto putthe menoutsidefor a short time.
