plotting againstHim to catch[Him] in somethingHe might say.
When the kingof Israelreadthe letter,he torehis clothesand said,"Am I God,to killand to makealive,that thisman is sending[word] to me to curea manof his leprosy?But considernow,and seehowhe is seekinga quarrelagainst me."
Thenthe Phariseeswentand plotted togetherhowthey might trapHim in what He said.
But Jesusperceivedtheir malice,and said,"Whyare you testingMe, you hypocrites?
Oneof them, a lawyer,askedHim [a question], testingHim,
Thenthey sentsomeof the Phariseesand Herodiansto Him in orderto trapHim in a statement.
They were watchingHim [to see] ifHe would healhim on the Sabbath,sothat they might accuseHim.
When He leftthere,the scribesand the Phariseesbeganto be veryhostileand to question Him closelyon many subjects,
Sothey watchedHim, and sentspieswho pretendedto be righteous,in orderthat they might catchHim in some statement,sothat they [could] deliverHim to the ruleand the authorityof the governor.
And they were unableto catchHim in a sayingin the presenceof the people;and being amazedat His answer,they became silent.
"Sodo not listento them, for morethan fortyof them are lying in waitfor him whohave boundthemselvesunder a cursenot to eatordrinkuntilthey slayhim; and nowthey are readyand waitingfor the promisefrom you."
