"For he will be greatin the sightof the Lord;and he will drinknowineorliquor,and he will be filledwith the HolySpiritwhile yetin his mother'swomb.
And I will makeyou a greatnation,And I will blessyou, And makeyour namegreat;And so you shall be a blessing;
But his fatherrefusedand said,"I know,my son,I know;he alsowill becomea peopleand he alsowill be great.However,his youngerbrothershall be greaterthanhe, and his descendantsshall becomea multitudeof nations."
"I have beenwith you whereveryou have gone,and have cutoffallyour enemiesfrom beforeyou; and I will makeyou a namelike the nameof the greatoneswhoare in the earth.
"Both richesand honor[come] from You, and You ruleover all,and in Your handis powerand might;and it lies in Your handto makegreatand to strengtheneveryone.
YetYou are He who broughtme forthfrom the womb;You made me trust[when] upon my mother'sbreasts.
"BeforeI formedyou in the wombI knewyou, And beforeyou were bornI consecratedyou; I have appointedyou a prophetto the nations."
But they said,"We will not drinkwine,for Jonadabthe sonof Rechab,our father,commandedus, saying,You shall not drinkwine,you or your sons,forever.
"Do not drinkwineor strongdrink,neither you noryour sonswith you, when you comeinto the tentof meeting,so that you will not die--it is a perpetualstatutethroughout your generations--
The LORDof hostswill defendthem. And they will devourand trampleon the slingstones;And they will drink[and] be boisterousas with wine;And they will be filledlike a [sacrificial] basin,[Drenched] like the cornersof the altar.
"You will have joyand gladness,and manywill rejoiceat his birth.
"I sayto you, amongthose bornof womenthere is no onegreaterthan John;yethe who is leastin the kingdomof Godis greaterthan he."
"For Johnthe Baptisthas comeeatingnobreadand drinkingnowine,and you say,'He hasa demon!'
"He was the lampthat was burningand was shiningand you were willingto rejoicefor a whilein his light.
And they were allfilledwith the HolySpiritand beganto speakwith othertongues,as the Spiritwas givingthem utterance.
But whenGod, who had set me apart[even] from my mother'swomband calledme throughHis grace,was pleased
And do not get drunkwith wine,for that is dissipation,but be filledwith the Spirit,
Now the LORDsaidto Joshua,"ThisdayI will beginto exaltyou in the sightof allIsrael,that they may knowthat justas I have beenwith Moses,I will be with you.
On that daythe LORDexaltedJoshuain the sightof allIsrael;so that they reveredhim, justas they had reveredMosesallthe daysof his life.
