All of you shall havethe sabbath[products] of the landfor food;yourself, and your maleand femaleslaves,and your hiredmanand your foreignresident,those who liveas alienswith you.
Then thisshall be the signfor you: you will eatthis yearwhatgrowsof itself, in the secondyearwhatspringsfrom the same, and in the thirdyearsow,reap,plantvineyards,and eattheir fruit.
but [on] the seventhyearyou shall letit restand liefallow,so that the needyof your peoplemay eat;and whatever they leavethe beastof the fieldmay eat.You are to dothe samewith your vineyard[and] your olivegrove.
But ifyou say,"Whatare we going to eaton the seventhyearifwe do not sowor gatherin our crops?"
then I will so orderMy blessingfor you in the sixthyearthat it will bringforththe cropfor threeyears.
Your harvest'saftergrowthyou shall not reap,and your grapesof untrimmedvinesyou shall not gather;the landshall havea sabbaticalyear.
Even your cattleand the animalsthat are in your landshall haveallits cropsto eat.
And allthosewho had believedwere togetherand hadall thingsin common;
And the congregationof thosewho believedwere of oneheartand soul;and not one[of them] claimedthat anythingbelongingto him was his own,but all thingswere common propertyto them.
