The heavensare the heavensof the LORD,But the earthHe has givento the sonsof men.
Let them be like chaffbeforethe wind,With the angelof the LORDdriving[them] on.
Let their waybe darkand slippery,With the angelof the LORDpursuingthem.
IfI had said,"I will speakthus,"Behold,I would have betrayedthe generationof Your children.
WhenI considerYour heavens,the workof Your fingers,The moonand the stars,whichYou have ordained;
Thussaysthe LORD,"Heavenis My throneand the earthis My footstool.Wherethenis a houseyou could buildfor Me? And whereis a placethat I may rest?
Thusyou shall sayto them, "The godsthat did not makethe heavensand the earthwill perishfrom the earthand from underthe heavens."
You who know,O LORD,Rememberme, takenoticeof me, And takevengeancefor me on my persecutors.Do not, in view of Your patience,takeme away; Knowthat for Your sakeI endurereproach.
You have covered[Yourself] with angerAnd pursuedus; You have slain[and] have not spared.
Israelhas rejectedthe good;The enemywill pursuehim.
"Therefore it shall comeabout when the LORDyour Godhas givenyou restfrom allyour surroundingenemies,in the landwhichthe LORDyour Godgivesyou as an inheritanceto possess,you shall blotout the memoryof Amalekfrom underheaven;you must not forget.
"The LORDshall neverbe willingto forgivehim, but ratherthe angerof the LORDand His jealousywill burnagainst that man,and everycursewhich is writtenin thisbookwill reston him, and the LORDwill blotout his namefrom underheaven.
"He will delivertheir kingsinto your handso that you will make their nameperishfrom underheaven;nomanwill be able to standbeforeyou untilyou have destroyedthem.
