You shall breakthem with a rodof iron,You shall shatterthem like earthenware.'"
For a thousandyearsin Your sightAre like yesterdaywhenit passesby, Or [as] a watchin the night.
At the morningwatch,the LORDlookeddownon the armyof the Egyptiansthrough the pillarof fireand cloudand broughtthe armyof the Egyptiansinto confusion.
"But at midnightthere was a shout,'Behold,the bridegroom!Comeout to meet[him].'
For you yourselvesknowfull wellthat the dayof the Lordwill comejust likea thiefin the night.
("Behold,I am cominglikea thief.Blessedis the one who stays awakeand keepshis clothes,sothat he will not walk aboutnakedand men will not seehis shame.")
He dividedthe 300meninto threecompanies,and he puttrumpetsand emptypitchersinto the handsof allof them, with torchesinsidethe pitchers.
"When I and allwhoare with me blowthe trumpet,then you alsoblowthe trumpetsallaroundthe campand say,'For the LORDand for Gideon.'"
When the threecompaniesblewthe trumpetsand brokethe pitchers,they heldthe torchesin their lefthandsand the trumpetsin their righthandsfor blowing,and cried,"A swordfor the LORDand for Gideon!"
